That's not the way I enjoy video games.
I agree that it is very difficult to please every players.
But video games becomes more and more easy since 2005/2010.
I have the same problem with Football Manager, you have to force yourself to have some restrictions because you systematically outperform your "natural ranking".
S1 with Alpine, OCO & GAS took +2 Overall !!
I have no hope anymore.
At Monza, we started 18 and 20th (engines/Gears penalties), we have the 7th car/10 on the grid (because I used editor to improve top team and midfielders)
We still manage to finish P6 and P10 !
Without red flag, SC in dry conditions and with a lack of top speed !
When I play this kind of game, I want to feel challenge, i want to struggle like Alpine do this season.
I want to enjoy taking P8/P9 with hard racing.
I want to enjoy the feeling to develop step by step the car performance.
Replace Gasly and Ocon with Martins, Doohan or Hadjar, that would create a bit of challenge for yourself, as drivers do have a great impact.
But again I don't really know what you're trying to get from this post.
Either put some limitations on yourself to create a challenge or drop the game, it's not that hard.
The game is not that hard if you know what you're doing, so the only way to challenge yourself is to limit what you can do.
If that sounds boring, then uninstall the game and move on with your life.
Have a good one.
I m a big fan of F1 and Management game, that's the reason i try to find a way to have a better experience with this game.
I don't want to make too much decisions that i would not take if i have to optimise my team.
You are right, there is nothing that we can do for the moment.
I took The Ferrari Technical Designer (Cardile) at the begining of the season, try to improve the Alpine in the better way.
I try to have at least 60% knowledge of the circuit for each driver and at least 92% car settings after each FP.
I push for the 3 first laps and I micro manage every tense situation (defense/Attack).
I know well formula one strategies and I played a lot to Motorsport Manager (at the maximum level of difficulty), maybe that's help.
See - I achieve the same even with simulated practise, just adjusting the settings between each round. Normally go into race with very high confidence. First 3 laps doesn't matter how hard i push the other cars are always quicker. I found that with McClaren and William and Alpha Tauri. I did find it a bit easy with Alpine other than the crashes/
McLaren , Aston, FER et MER have the same level for instance, and I gave a boost to Mercedes (because they were too close to Alpine in terms of performance).
MErcedes is doing sh.. every races, awful strategy, under performance in Quali everytime ...
I push with fuel the 4 or 5 five first laps.
2 laps before i pit and 2 laps after.
I push the fuel in defending and attacking situation.
I rarely have crashes after 12 oR 13 races.
I rarely give order to attack or defend aggressively.
I rarely push ERS battle assist (I manage it manually when situation is tense).
There is a price for other team to push hard in the begining of the race.
They can do poor strategy after that, for instance, stay on the track with used tyres and lose a lot of time.
But I have the feeling there are some changes.
MCLaren is now fighting for podiums.
And after every changes, i feel differences.
But not enough.
I can consider that Alpine can play podiums in some circumstances , IRL, they did 2 podiums but in specifics conditions.
In game, i can play podiums oR P4/ P5 on a regular basis.
It's not only me.
I follow a french Youtuber that took Alpine, I was well performing S1 and Ocon is leader of the championship in the middle of S2...
(So it's easy to jump up.)
The way AI use engines is not appropriate.
(AI use yellow warning under 50% engine in race.
Player uses new engine in race, old engine in practice.)
AI drivers is overly afraid of tires overheating?
(They sometimes pit stop even though their tires have a lot of durability left.
They had planned to use the tires in attack mode, but feared overheating, so they ran them in normal mode?)
I play for McLaren and finished S1 in 4th place.
Norris finished on the podium 7 times, including winning 3 races.
McLaren has made only 2 updates to all parts.
All other days were spent researching for next season.
As a result, in S2, Norris has won six straight races now.
