How to reduce total extra weight?

Hya All, just wondering if there's a way to reduce total extra weight from your car? My car has 20kg, Mercedes has 7.4kg as an example. Nowhere in research or parts have I seen this metric to be able to reduce it to match the high end teams. Help appreciated!

There's a new slider at the bottom of every part (compared to '22) called Durability or Lifespan or similar. I think 20kg might be the total weight for all parts if that's left at the default level.

Reducing it will reduce that "extra" weight but in exchange your parts will wear faster and they'll fail after-race inspection more often, so you'll have to replace them more frequently.

Conversely increasing it will increase the extra weight but you won't have to change them out for new ones as often.
