if you only need fastest lap its best to cool the tyres down before you start your push lap
i think brake cooling also affects your tyre temp + chance to get a lock up but not 100% sure on that
engine cooling is to get less wear on the engine if its to hot its dying faster not sure if you loose power if its way to hot
It is kind of buried though.
Playing on Xbox and it's hard to find some of these pop out menus. The game could probably use some tutorial screens or something.
It works correctly when tires are too cold then it affects lap time but not when too hot, which is incorrect again IRL the rubber has an optimum temperature range start moving outside this range and lap time will suffer whether they be too high or too low cold
The other thing here is that the game represents tire temperature comparison between compounds incorrectly (i looked into this) as i was already suspicious it was wrong
Contrary to this game IRL softer tires generate more heat and run at higher temperatures all other things being equal this is because the thermal resistance is lower due to the tires build composition, but in this game softer tires will be seen to be running at lower temperatures which is fundamentally and scientifically incorrect, Thankfully this basic oversight and error is largely irrelevant because the actual wear rate are consistent, ie softer tires still wear out faster, but the actual temperature is wrong it should be the other way round ie the softer compound get;s hotter than harder compound, pretty basic oversight and fundamental error if you ask me, again signs of rushed development, did they not think people would realize?
Ah, so I'm not the only person playing games on Xbox but discussing them on Steam. Greetings, fellow Xboxer.
Edit:
Well, crap. I see this was almost a year old and got bumped. Odds are you're not still lurking here to see my greeting. 🫤
