The Front
so does this game have a virus or not?
Seems many virus scanners are flagging trojans in this game. I'm interested in trying it, but *not* if it has viruses.

Virus Total dont work so well to detect threats, or you has malicious intentions or is a nb. mindrot
believe what you want i said my peace on this subject and could not care less what you decide to do moving forward
So it seemed unethical for you to give your blood to defend something that was not related to false arguments.

Hi,

The game does not have any virus or related.

Wholf

Okay and on which reliable information is this based?
Also there is NO official answer from the DEVs regarding such an important topic.
There are at least 2 files flagged and also it is sus that a game need access to the kernel.
1. ServerOperation.exe
2. TheFront.exe
and how Kaspersky-AV handles the main game exe scares me.

Now imagine something for sure doesn't exist. Like leprechauns. Then you see a show called leprechaun catchers. So you ask if leprechauns really exist. Someone tells you they definitely do not exist. Then you follow up by asking for proof or claim they don't have reliable information. It's impossible to prove something doesn't exist.

We do know however that virus detection software is flawed, especially with new programs. So if the only evidence so far is items being flagged, Occam's razor suggests the anti-virus is the problem, not the program. But there is nothing wrong with being overly cautious and staying away from the game. Just don't expect people to prove something does not exist.
My antivirus works to detect viruses, my steam games dont dork to have viruses or something like this. THIS IS MY FIRST DETECTION ON STEAM GAMES IN 10 YEARS. okay for you? use your occam oh this.

According to whom? It's one of the best free threat intelligence sources out there.

I full agree and support this posting and this is also my first encounter on steam with a game that is first undetectable and after the second patch v1.0.2 the detection began. I am not sure how others will normaly react but for me it is an arkward behaviour and here it is safety comes first.

Ok, but what about more technical information about why it is not a Trojan
Windows Defender is not picking up any flags on my end. You probably downloaded malware somewhere else

For local protection, sure. But in enterprise environments, you can't necessarily assume that they're running Windows in production, or they don't have other endpoint protection solutions. Which is why Virustotal is useful.
A multi billion dollar company whose money is made by selling games... Doesn't vet games for viruses...? Come on FFS how stupid do you think steam is? They would lose consumer confidence if that happened, they vet every game under an electron microscope lol Be paranoid as you want but this is the truth, now false positives happen and anti-cheat software also doesnt always get along with AV's find me one steam game that has ever been sold on steam with a virus, all ive read is vague BS... As for 3rd party mods from sites that you directly install in your game or using wemod thats a whole other issue.

Clearly you don't understand the development process. Many viruses slip through Google's android store, and presumably other app stores.

Wow how sounds this for you?
I can clearly say that THIS happen since I joined steam never before to me and I own and downloaded more as 1000 games here on steam. Old titles, new titles, alphas, betas, previews, gametests and EA titles. Never, never before I encountered a trojan/virus detection, since this title comes up.
Do you can imagine that this makes it really suspect? How will you react?
For all users that are confronted with a detection message and are scared or unsure what to do, The only advise is, "yeah buddies that is a false positive" - how can you be sure?

in the past other stores delivered content that were slipped in and not detected first. So it is nothing that could not happen on steam.
Also other dev-teams have to deal with compromissed toolchains or captured source-servers in the past, or on some CDNs were good files changed against bad files. So imagine there is a possibility that this happened in this case. We don't know, but how strange is it, that the release files are okay and with patch v1.0.2 the detection began?

It is creepy and I also setup a dedicated server for this game, but before I launched I found this postings here and was also scared, Also my local installation was burned down by my AV, regarding the flagged ServerOperation.exe.

What makes me wonder, that there is simply no interest from the devs to clarify this issue and make an official answer. Only one mod answered, but only basic words.
I'm guessing not many from the game actually visit this forum. They advertise with Chinese so who knows. Not even saying there is a virus but I find it odd on these forums people disregard anything about their beloved game. They can't even get the network to work right, let alone stop viruses from infecting the game. That said, I haven't had that, but it doesn't mean it isn't possible.

lol At ( how stupid do you think steam is.) Varying degrees is true .
I have manually looked for it during installation and I haven't found it
First, I should say, the fact that so many people just play this off when 'so many' people are saying there are issues with their virus detection and this game. It's worth a look. Anyone playing it off... well, if you get a virus, you deserve it.

For the rest...

It's the anti-cheat software. As Wholf said - it's "not" a virus. Though, it's a pretty darn invasive bit of an anti-cheat based in China (what could possibly go wrong?) that digs in your system and reports back all sorts of 'unknown' information.

It's partly deep learning but it's "deep learning" your data ;) So there's that.

As one 'old timer' bragged above about never getting a virus... Some of us that have been doing this for 30 years or more tend to have machines that are strictly gaming rigs so we don't worry so much about losing our personal data, our bank account numbers and totals, our medical history or any secret business information (or state secrets) we probably shouldn't be allowing on the same system that you play games with.

Besides... Don't you know? Google, Yahoo, Facebook and so many more, already have all of that information. You gave it to them when you bought your phone/computer/tv/literally anything you paid for with a credit card....

Welcome to the future.
