Floor vs. foundation

Do you put down floors above foundations?
Or do you use foundations directly as floors?
Or ... how is this supposed to work?
I thought floors were just for multi story buildings, but I read some posts which make me doubt that guess.

I don't know if you are a PVP server or not. If you are, raiders are not going to focus on your foundation or floors, they will hit your walls to get in. Save yourself the resources on making floors and just go with foundations. If you have a multi level base, then floors will be needed to act as ceiling/ floor pieces between levels as roof pieces don't come in a flat horizontal variant.

Things are strongest directly on the ground for the most part. If you have a floor or foundation they will attack that and when it falls with usually a lower hit requirement it will fall and destroy itself. You cant stack foundations in this game like Conan and make things stronger. You would be best to concentrate on the highest tier and highest Legendary or Epic durability. Howerver, there is so much explosives in this game and explosive are cheaper than most anything else there is little use in building things other than walls.
