Hey, pressing ALT + SHIFT will let you turn to QWERTY layout.
I'm on an AZERTY keyboard as well, it works perfectly fine doing so.
Once it's done note that you will need to use ";" instead of M to open the map.
Until developers can add more options that should solve your issue just fine. Cheers
Not everyone uses WASD movement, and changing that muscle memory after 25+ years of using ESDF of a similar control scheme is obnoxious for a feature that takes virtually zero effort to implement.
That isn't an excuse for not having a basic feature that has been included in every single game with movement and camera control since the days of Windows 95. It's literally the easiest possible thing to develop aside from inverting the mouse, and every developer *has* to know that this is something people need.
As I said above: this should literally be the first UI feature developed in any project, it's completely baffling to enter early access without it. Also, this isn't something that should take 72 hours to develop, I'm confident I could do it in an afternoon at MOST.
Oh, and there are example projects in Unreal that have key remapping if that tells you anything about the simplicity of this feature.
and most are UE games and couple are unity...it isnt a prio either its not game breaking.
Oh yeah? Name me a successful game that has WASD movement and mouse camera control that doesn't allow you to change your key-bindings. It is a priority, and it is game breaking for anyone who doesn't use WASD movement and a *LOT* more people who change their non-movement bindings to suit their preferences depending on what games they played the most when they got into PC gaming.
Again, we aren't talking about some complex, advanced or niche feature here... we are talking about a stock-standard core UI function that is as simple to implement as storing a config file that re-maps the keys, and maybe some basic validation for duplicate bindings being optional.
It's at most a couple hours of development time, and frankly I don't understand why you're trying to downplay the importance of a BASIC feature. It's a big problem for a lot of people, and it will absolutely cost them sales during the single most critical time for them (initial release).
I haven't played yet, but if this isn't in soon I WILL be refunding my copy and will not be giving them a second chance. I don't want to be mean, but it isn't a good look to put this much time/effort into developing a game like this and then forget to implement such a core UI feature as re-mapping keys.
