Cannot place Wood Windows or Doors

Was able to do everything up to this task, but now I can't place a wood window or a door anywhere. Do I need to craft a frame for it? Doesn't seem like there is a craft for that either so not sure what to do. Thanks for any help.

Craft a wall, transform to a door frame and place the door

Hold the wall item in your hand, then hold RMB and it'll give you a menu where you can choose

but only the 1x1 wall not the 2x2 wall.
Took me a while to figuer out.
