Failure to launch game after latest update. 10-18-23

Every time I attempt to launch the game I get one of three error messages:


"Failed to start process for The Front : 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.' (0x20)"

"An error occurred while updating The Front (missing executable) : C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TheFront\ProjectWar\Binaries/Win64\TheFront.exe"

"Failed to start process for The Front : 'Access is denied.' (0x5)"

I've tried un/reinstalling the game, and verifying game files to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?

My antivirus was nice enough to give me a detailed answer.

The executable is reading as malicious and was quarantined, which makes the game unplayable and gives you those errors. Verifying files won't fix it because your antivirus is likely doing the same thing mine was but not telling you.

Try to make an exception for the whole folder where your game is installed in your Antivirus settings.

Same. Looks like we are at the mercy of either the Dev's updating the game so that it does not trip the Anti-Virus or the Anti-Virus companies updating their software to not view this game's code as a threat.
