The art for the remastered sucks.
It misses a lot of detail by adding flash style graphics and adds blotches of ugly drawing.
Compare the intro video for starters. T
The new one has sharper edges and almost no jaggies. While this is good it removes some of the roughness that was meant to be there and that should have been fine except it adds garbage style flash graphics on the really nice art. For example the clothes in the new one have strange waves and shadows that make no sense removing the fine detail the old one had.And you can see a blocky rocky side road in the new one, but in the original it was meant to be hills and dirt that where blurry because they where going fast and the effect was great for a dusty panorama.
While you can switch in game for the old to new graphics.
You cannot do this for all of the game, This includes cutscenes.
If you played this or are playing it and couldnt get your hands on a working original version then Thankfully you can still watch the cutscenes with the original beautiful art on youtube.
I just finished playing this version, and to be fair I enjoyed the rough looking first version much much more simply because of the level of detail on the bikes and characters, the remastered one just does not have that and looks bland. Easier to run easier to play but the art is where it gets me just cannot love it as much as the original.
I have the remaster but haven't played it yet. I hope that the option to disable the remaster art is in the game menu so that I don't have to see the remaster art in-game at all, even just to switch to the original art.
I hope the original visuals includes the cutscenes.
