My thougths on Siege of Dragonspear (potential spoilers)
I had fun playing it, it sure was not a B1 or a BG 2, but I really enjoyed the story, because I always wanted to know what happened between BG 1 + 2. Many people think its bad written. I don't think so. I was engaged and wanted to know what happens next.

They new characters were good in my opinion, but I can only speak of Glint and Corwin, because they were in my party. The gay gnome is funny and Corwin had a good backstory, a caring mother, who does what she needs to do, to keep her city and her family alive.

The old chars were fun, especially Dynaheir and Minsk, except Safana, she changed too much which isn't bad, but the game didn't give me an explanation why she now hates men ^^

The battles were tough and engaging, I played on Core Rules and had some challenges, which were fun.

The world felt alive, especially Baldurs Gate with so many people walking around.

But there were some minor downsides too. Let me explain:

First I had a bug where I had 2 Rasaads and had to replay a great part of the game, which was annoying, also when I found Skie at Dragonspear castle, before the Siege. I wasn't able to finish her quest, because I couln't tell that Flaming fist leader guy (I don't remember his name right now), because I already placed the Bwoosh explosive barrel and he was already at Deadmans pass. And I had no option to tell him I rescued her when I talked to him, well in the end it didn't really matter, because I know I did it and Skie, well we know what happens to her.

The transgender person . . well you see I have no issue with that, but why do I have in any dialogue the option to say something evil, but not to him/her when he/she tell me his story. I wouldn't say anything evil, at least in this playthrough because I play chaotic good. But when I replay the whole saga, I want to play the most maniac and evil Necromancer Faerun has ever seen. I would appreciate that option, not because I have a problem with that character I talked about, but because I roleplay as an evil person then. Anyway not the biggest issue.

THE GOLDEN PANTALOONS, when I picked up my stuff from the table in the end, they weren't on it even if they were in my inventory. I had to reload and put them in my bag (the one were you can put everything). Then they were on the table in said bag.

Overall I would compare it with ToB and a fun experience.

yeah, I like SoD as well. it has highs and lows...as does BG1 and BG2.

The only thing I didn't like about it is that the dragon (or was it a wrym?...whatever) should have been much stronger. I remember the first time I fought it...I waited as long as I could so I could level up as much as possible and buffed up to crazy proportions...quick saved...and rushed my fighters in. I quickly clicked a caster to cast a debuff on it...and it died to my fighters before I could target it with the spell.

I've played through a couple times since and now I just toss a couple minor buffs on the party and kill it the first time I come to the area.

The Green Dragon was really weak, I imagine he must been quite young for a dragon. ^^

More like half asleep and unprepared for an assault by professional adventurers...
