Spectacles of Spectacle
i'm having trouble using this item. if i go to the quick slot and try to use it, the pointer is greyed out unless i point to a particular character. and if i point to a character (i've tried my own, friendly NPCs and monsters) it casts at them but then says "unaffected by effects of Spectacles"... what to do!

The item description states that it can pull creatures from different planes into the plane your party is on, so obviously it wouldn't have any effect on your party members or normal NPCs.

Maybe check if there are any shadowy creatures you can't interact with normally around? Maybe check if any creatures appear when you equip the item?

Also be aware that there are far more such creatures than charges, so unless you read the walkthrough you cannot get the optimal outcome.
