launch game and get white screen with game music...
Im not comp capable, but i know this has to have an easy fix cause i couldn't find anything about it so far. Any tips as to how to get picture functioning? You may have to break it down for me a bit, cause i bairly understand the inner workings of computers.
I launch the game and it brings up a white screen. I can hear game music, and can see the mouse cursor, and can even click around and get white screen to make noise (as if im accessing the game options, but there is no picture.

I got it to work by changing screen res to 1028X76something. Then went in and set it to run in windowed mode (just in case). Funny thing is, after getting it to go, i changed back res to norm and it still workes, but only if i have Steam" minimized.:)
INSANITY.....
Currently i am having trouble getting back in. I kinda forgot how the magic goes to get it working. Minimize, then open...? Or was it open, alt+tab out, minimize steam, then go back in to seeable game....?
something like that...
kicked as though. got my party up to almost 3rd lvl... and that takes days of play... so keep trying. you too will find the magic dance to get it to work:)

Lol I got to 3rd level in a day?

1. Check run 256 colors on BGEE.exe (Properties -> compatibility)
2. Dissable any OCD software (on screen fps, temps etc.) like MSI Afterburner and Fraps.

Working on Win7 64 Ultimate

I can run it with no issues while running 'Razer Game Booster' and running the on-screen fps display.
Am having the same issues in Windows 8, still not fixed. Tried changing compatibility to XP Service Pack 3, no dice. Tried running 256 colors, tried changing the screen resolution to 1028X768, tried every combination with Alt + Enter, all NO DICE. I don't think my computer (an 09 dell) has any OSD software, as I didn't find any of the OSD programs mentioned and no osd.exe in my task manager. I'm kinda at the end of my rope here :-/

OSD Software = On Screen Display Software my friend. It can be anything from the simple Windows Gadgets to the right of your screen, all the way up to something more extravagant like Rainmeter.
Game Boosting Software also has OSD capabilities.

Do you run any programs out of preference? Anything?
As you can tell, I'm not much of a tech person. I honestly have no idea what OSD software would be used in my computer, or how to go about altering it. Windows 8 is a bit of a cold b**** of an operating system, which doesn't help things either. I have an NVIDIA Quadros NVS 160M graphics card, and what the screen panel is describing as General PnP monitor. Beyond that, I use flux on my computer, but I don't know why that would mess with my display stuff here. I've never had to deal with it before, so I don't really know where to start. I haven't sought out any game boosting software. The only thing I could think of that is related to that is DirectX, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to alter it in Windows 8. It just lets me run a diagnostic, nothing more.

f.lux might be causing an issue but I doubt it. Have you tried disabling it and then running the game to see if it solves the issue?
You shouldn't have to change anything in DirectX either, what version are you using?

No worries. Sorry I took so long this time, still trying to put my daughter to sleep. :)
P.S. Be careful using the [ ] brackets as it can play with formatting within the Steam forums :)

Not a problem, daughters come first. Just tried disabling f.lux, no difference. And I'm using DirectX 11. What are my options, really, if I can't figure this out? I tried going directly to the game support, but they just gave me a preprepared list of things to do for Windows 8, didn't tell me how to accomplish those things, and didn't respond to my reply asking for further help. Does it just become a wash then?

Very true.
I hate going to the official game support, they never actually read your issue. They just give you a predetermined list based on the subject of your issue.
Honestly, you can let the game sit there and build up a layer of dust (figuratively), or you can keep trying. There's always a fix somewhere, something that's been overlooked etc. Even when there are next to no solutions left, someone with more knowledge than you or I comes along and saves the day.

Try this, run 'dxdiag.exe' (not sure where the search section is in Windows 8). Let it finish it's diagnostic and check your 'display' tab.
In the text box, does it read "No problems found." or is there more?
there is an options file located at C:\documnets\baldurs gate enhanced edition\ ....called " BALDUR" click on it and open it. you can make changes to the game before it starts. if there is a 1 that option is " on" if it's a 0 it's " off "

SAVE OVERTOP OF THE FILE BEFORE EXITING OUT.

I hope you're adding more detail to that. An open '.ini' file in the hands of someone inexperienced could be disastrous...

No worries, just being safe. Almost crashed a few things myself while experimenting... Hehe
If I'm correct though, his game does run. Just he gets the issue with white screen replacing game menu/display etc.
My Alt+Tab to windowed mode then restart the game solution fixed it for me though....
