Yeah man divine spellcasters are wisdom based. Sorcerers use charisma as their base attribute. atleast in 3rd edition, but this game is in 2nd edition rules set

In the case of Druids charisma is listed because you need 17 wisdom and 17 charisma if you are dual classing to it from a Fighter (with 15 strength needed as well). Whereas a druid to fighter would need 15 charisa, 15 wisdom, and 17 strength. So yea the official manual still needs work since it should say both.

The official manual was, and still is, terrible. They don't tell WHY any of the stats are important.

My RPG newbie friend made his Rogue have almost no strength because "Dex is it's prime stat". He was pretty annoyed when I told him that Dex would never actually affect his melee attacks whatsoever...

Well, dex affects its attack with range weapons. I think rogue should use range weapons mainly so its not that bad. Strength is definitely not too relevant.

STR is relevant for everyone maybe except mages. Having no str means you dont do anything fighting melee range, for rogue it is pretty terrible as his backstabs will be very weak. Even when you specialize as ranged fighter at some times you can be forced to melee and then you are screwed

If you make things well, you shouldn't be NEVER forced to close combat. But even then, good dex means more defensive capabilities. The thief only have to resist a little time. And the backstab is not so useful anyway. Yes, sometimes can save you, but that is rarely. I only say this: In a thief, dex is FAR more important than str. Imoen can have 9 or 12 str (I don't remember) but she can hit pretty hard with a good short bow because she has dex. If you mess everything in a combat and monsters reach your back line (your fault, by the way), Imoen can resist a bit thanks to its good dex.

MUST you give up some stats? STR maybe is not the best choice but it's not the worst you can make either.
