You were in only the third cloakwood map. There's a much larger Wyvern Cave on the FOURTH Cloakwood map. Coran's just a moron and starts telling you "HEY! Let's go sell the loot we don't have yet!" Go to the next Cloakwood area and go fight the real wyverns, then you'll have your heads.
Original Message:
Yeah, I had this exact same problem. I don't know why the wyverns weren't dropping the quest item, but (granted this is cheating) I can tell you how to force the items to spawn in your game.
Step One: Open Documents -> Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition and replace your baldur.ini file with the one at this location:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0y1DSnUMeOmZEsyLVNWSjNGR2c/edit?usp=sharing
The only difference is I added this line to it:
'Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1',
Step Two: In-game press CTRL+S and type in the following command:
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MISC52")
Step Three: Check your party leader's backpack. You now have your wyvern heads!
I know it's cheating :\
But I don't know why the darn wyverns didn't drop the quest items nor how to fix it.
Which by the way I know I found that thing but I can't find it in any of my inventories or chests. I don't know where the heck it is. But would that interfere with completing a different quest?
