Useless Treasure

While killing bandits 2 areas south of the bandit camp, we stumbled on the MC for the gladiator fights. After killing him thoroughly, he dropped some valuable items, including the robe of the evil archmage.

Unfortunately none of the merchants will buy this "treasure", claiming they don't deal in stolen goods. This is strange in itself, as almost everything we sell once belonged to a now deceased creature, bad guy, or illegal alien.

Anybody know of a crooked merchant who will buy these particular stolen items?

The Thieves' Guild in Baldur's Gate entrance district, there is a fence upstairs named Black Lily who buys stolen items. There is a thief standing near the middle of the district who will give you the password to get inside. I dont know why it would be flagged as stolen though.

What I like to do is visit a shopkeeper, Lucky Aello is nearby and thus convenient. Then I start selling him expensive items. Get my thief ready, chug a potion of master thievery if needed, and then steal it all back. Anything I want to keep, I hold on to. Anything I dont want like gems, weapons party members dont have proficencies for, and so on, and sell it to the fence. LAst time, I finished the game with about 180k gold. Damn you, Irenicus.

Wow, that much gold probably paid for his entire starter dungeon. I'll check with Black Lily before I tear the place down to get hold of their tome of agility.
