2. More Webs + arrows
Like Degrodel. There are just too many invisible evil Guardians to deal with, so a Wand of Monster Summoning preoccupies them nicely while you rip apart Degrodel.
I do like Wands. The only bad thing about them is that you can't merge them. I have like, three wands of Paralysation right now, since there's no use wasting charges.
Course Minsc was my hero and role model for the game...Full plate and packing steel!
Entagle or web + ranged characters + cloudkill(mage spell)
Open a door throw a cloud kill then close the door (it works more for baldurs gate 2 since the level of this spell is high)
Do you aready know where your enemy is but they cant see you yet? Throw fireball, entagle, web at them from a distance that they cant see your caster casting, this works a lot on baldurs gate 2 maybe the reason is that bg2 has more closed spaces like dungeons.
Fight at tight spaces sometimes benefit your team a lot, specially if your tankers are aready completly blocking the enemy on ramps, doors or narrow corridors.
You must have at level 1 circle spell the sleep spell and at level 2 circle spell the horror spell, specially the horror spell because its utility will last until baldurs gate 2 and its a cheap spell.
Later on this game and specially baldurs gate 2, there are a lot of mage characters that may seem invulnerable( yes they are) for a brief moment, they are usually heavly buffed with spells that give resistance to physic and magic, so you must have at the final parts of this game spells such dispel magic, remove magic, breach and etc to remove such buffs from the enemy.
If you have a powerfull backstabber character, abuse him(roleplaying or not), to scout and kill a boss before or right the moment the fight starts.
(Minor Spoiler): There is a area on this game with a great number of basilisks, and on this same area there is creature that wants to ´´party´´ with your group for a moment and this creature is immune to petrification...
Blindness vs casters or archers (or very tough melee)
Spook vs High level enemies with good saves that you need to take out of battle for a couple rounds.
Command on a tough enemy just after hasting the party so they all auto-hit for ~2 attacks each during the round the enemy is knocked down.
Web on groups of 5+ HD enemies. Or Glitterdust.
Liberal application of Wands where most effective, and hording spell scrolls for extra ammo in a pinch.
Summoned undead for dealing with basilisks.
Using the cloak of Algernon on the most useful enemy for a shot at charming them (or if using Xan, keeping 1 charm spell per level, if able, memorized for the same purpose). (Preference towards casters or archers)
(Not really a fan of fear or horror cause the enemies tend to scatter and tracking them down can be a pain....but If it's a last resort I won't hesitate to pop a scroll/wand of it).
--------------
And if you happen to have a barbarian, the good ol' poke'em with a staff and move out range before they can retailiate technique.
