Does this Game Go on Sale?
I'm wanting this game, but I don't know if it ever goes on sale. In other words, would I be wasting my time if I waited until the Summer Sale to buy Baldur's Gate EE? (I've never played BG before, though I have played Icewind Dale.)

If you have the money for it without the sale, I'd get BG:II instead and wait for this one to go on sale since the second one is better. Not calling this one bad, but the second one is better.

Both BG1/2 are good. the series get better after BG1. I would recommend that you play through BG as it is a great game still.

Thank you, all.

BG1 has only gone on sale once. BG2 has never had a sale from what I know and neither has Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition.

I got BG:EE for around €6... being honest I would have paid the €20 if I knew i'd have been playing it as much as I did. It was pretty much the only game I played for about two weeks straight. 90 hours to beat with the expansion having skipped quite a few side quests relating to companions(Believe I only did Neera's and one or two others which happened to be tied into the main campaign or were very straightforward such as freeing Brandwell or whatever her name is). I was so into Baldur's Gate that I picked up Baldur's Gate 2 straight away with not a care if it went on sale the next day simply because they did a great job updating it and adding QoL features to BG1 that were much needed.

BG2 has definitely been on sale. I own it, and I never buy things for full price.

Well, then...

I SHALL BEGIN TO WAIT...

And become impatient...

And buy it exactly one hour before a sale!

(Seriously, though, thank you for the information).

You'll enjoy it but you'll need to do some research on your character when you first start off otherwise prepare for frustration if you're not up to date with D&D character sheets(I wasn't and it sucked early game in both BG and BG2 as I carried my character over). And save all the time beause you're going to die... (Q is quick save)

For example if you want to build a fighter just focus on maxing Strength, Dexterity and Constitution. Everything else just make sure you cover the baseline(Which is 9 points). Charisma is somewhat important as the leader of the group as it means less chance of people running away out of cowardice but with 14 it should be fine.

Strength is how hard you'll hit(Weapons need a certain Str value, 15 will cover you for every weapon type in the game).
Dexterity is accuracy AND armour modifier so it's EXTREMELY important if you're building a tanky character to max this stat out or as close to 18 as possible. Constitution is your health which is also very important.

A dice roll of 88 should be enough for a fighter: 18str, 18dex, 18cons, 10wis, 10int, 14char. This should be an easy enough number to get without pressing reroll over and over. If you get 87(You'll get that a lot as your highest number) don't bother trying to get higher as 87 will more than cover you. Just take a point out of wis or int and you won't be penalised for it.

Outside of combat your stats don't really mean anything so don't expect a high intelligence to net you more clever responses than you would normally or having a higher charisma value to change peoples perception of you. Just make sure you don't fall below any of the base requirements for each stat(Which is lower than 9). At most you'll get one or two insignificant options in conversations to choose(That won't really do anything) and lower prices in shops which is useless seeing as you'll end the game easily with over 100k gold(Yeah, you get a lot of gold in EE and don't really spend much gold on equips) so it makes charisma a pointless stat. Unfortunately the same problem carries over to BG2 not that it matters considering you get a ring to boost your Charisma to 18 near the very beginning of BG2.

Thanks for the advice! I'm sure I'll enjoy it; I'm a sucker for story and lore (Something that the D&D universe is a gold- mine for), and if I've heard/read right, then BG has an awesome story.

and this as well:

I bought when it was at its lowest. Regardless, I'm sure it's worth full price.
