Cant travel to different parts of the map
So I decided to jump into this classic and got out of the starting area, saw the story event to push you forward and went to the next area only to try and head to the Inn and it wont travel me. My characters just sit at the edge of the screen.

You need to click on the edge of the area you are in in order to leave. Get to the edge and move the cursor until it looks like a wheel. After you click there you should be able to travel to other locations on the big map.

you can basically only travel to maps that border directly on the zone you're currently in.

yeah, i did that and it doesnt move me to the next map, is there one more area between the area i am in and the inn?
Skere Kaan Apr 16, 2023 @ 9:02am
there's one more area in-between. after you've left candlekeep you have to go right, then enter that map. in the new map you speak to elminster and then go up and you reach the inn map.

ahh, i never found elminster, maybe thats why
Skere Kaan Apr 16, 2023 @ 9:16am
as soon as you enter the second area you'll immediately meet him. just go to the right, hover the cursor over the edge of the map and it changes to a wheel. then left-click and you can see the world map with the new area to the right. click on that and you'll travel there.

strange, it didnt make me talk to him immediately, im trying to look for him now and i dont see him anywhere, yet

In fact all i see is the raided caravans, the couple stone statues around the road and a few other NPC's, the two evil guys joined my party, but no Elminster

wow i feel stupid, i kept clicking on the area i was already in, it said that was where the inn was on the map, didnt make that very clear but i was able to travel now.

so did you meet elminster? then you just have to go up and travel to the next area which houses the inn.
also, if you enter the inn, be careful. on the stairs leading to the entrance is the first miniboss of the game. so i'd advise to keep the main character in the background.

I actually did have one playthrough where I didn't have the first meeting with Elminster (after Gorion's death I immediately clicked the Southern edge in order to avoid Imoen). He popped up after I cleared out the Nashkel mines, though, and the game acted as if we did have that first meeting. So it is possible to avoid him the first time, even accidentally.

Fun Fact: Elminster is the "author avatar" of Ed Greenwood, who created the Forgotten Realms.

yup yup, playing in a table top game with him as DM in his forgotten realms would be amazing im sure.
