Tips for the outside of Cloakwood Mines?
Been stuck here when it comes to killing the three or four enemies outside the mines themselves. I can usually lure one to the bridge and kill em there but after that when I try to get closer the magic user becomes active and that's where the issues start. Any ideas on a better strategy?

If you have a cleric in your party, having them cast silence could solve your mage problem. Early on enemies can't save very good, and silence is brutal because they save at a -4 penalty on top of that.

Aside from that, get your melee characters to rush in and grab the attention but make sure your ranged characters are focusing on the mage until they're dead. Also, I don't remember that fight real well, but if their opening spell is particularly problematic you can cast magic missile at them at the beginning of the fight to hopefully interrupt whatever they're casting and waste the spell.

1. Cast web from just outside their range of vision
2. Shoot the helpless enemies with arrows until they die

I'll try this. Other times I've tried to cast web or entangle on enemies I just get my party caught in it. Maybe they're in the way or somethin

Entangle has a long casting time; Web is your best bet, or Stinking Cloud. Web has a penalty to save against. Stinking Cloud requires a save vs. Poison, so the enemy fighters MAY make their saving throws. And keep your party back far enough to not get caught in the effects or you'll just have to reload.

One of the enemy fighters has the Paws of the Cheetah boots. I can never manage to catch him in the Web, and I hate cheesing fights (casting Web just outside their view). But, he usually gets put down quickly with melee or single-target spells.

Crowd control spells are very powerful in bg1. Fear, Web, Confusion, hold person, even silence is extremely useful against mages, especially in the cloakwood encounter, cuz 2 of the 4 mercenaries are hard mages
