Problems saving game
I've played BG:EE aswell as IWD:EE and both games have the same issue. When I play I can't save the game any more, neither in Quick-save nor in Auto-save. I play on PC Win7 x64. The problems occurred when I updated Win7 to Win10. Rebooting back to win 7 isn't helping. Any ideas?

i haven't played in awhile and i do NOT have Win 10 ( i don't want it either ) but maybe it is this:

Your normal game had a save file located exactly like this:

C:users\main user\my documents\baldurs gate enhanced edition \ ( the save folder was in here )

maybe Win 10 renamed your folder called " users " or the folder called " main user " or maybe even the folder called " my documents " and now the game doesn't know where to deposit the save file now.

If all else fails you could try using Win 10, copy and paste your old saves to another place ( like the desktop ) , delete Baldurs gate, re-install it and replace your old save files and see what happens.

Hi! I deleted the game and re-installed it. The oddest thing was that my old saves (Auto and Quick) was still in the right place: "C:\Users\username\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\save\ " I thought it would be empty! I don't want to re-install win10 since I'm quite satisfied with win7. Somehow STEAM (or my computer) puts all my new save-files in a secret place where I can't reach them. I'm too much of a noobie to go any further.

Anyhow, thanks for your assistance :)

well, thanks your welcome. So i'm guessing it worked out for you and your up and running again. My guess is Win 10 install did something to either My documents or maybe the registry.

Sorry, but I still haven't figured it out. It is, as you say, probably a mix-match between the two systems. I will take a more zen-buddistic approach from now on and give my other games some attention. These rpg-oldies are quite fun but these techical problems are not the end of the world. Maybe a solution will come up in the future.

Heureka! I made it work. I deleted the game from my computer but beforehand I made a backup of my save-file on the desktop. I made a disc cleanup and also used the programme TweakNow RegCleaner. Finally I installed the game again from STEAM and after all hokus-pokus the registry/documents/win7/win10-whatever is up-to-date and working fine again. What actually happened is above my paygrade though.

Crazed Possum, thnx for your input once again.

1. copy your save game folder onto your desktop for safe keeping. Copy and paste it onto the desktop.

located here: C:users\main user\my documents\baldurs gate enhanced edition \ ( the save folder is in here )

2. uninstall Baldurs gate enhaced edition.

3. run a registry cleaner ( just in case ) i use CCLEANER that you can Google and get online. Remember to run the registry cleaning part of the program.

4. reinstall the game.

5. Copy and paste your old save folder ( desktop ) back where it needs to be :

C:users\main user\my documents\baldurs gate enhanced edition \ SAVE

6. try it out.
