Another trick is to move hiding in shadows, and go back when you activate one trap, waiting the end of the web to move forward, where usually there's an encounter with spiders/ettercap. You could clear the area without disarming traps but it takes more time.
Hopefully, you put some points into Detect Traps from the start of the game because if you can't get through Cloakwood, you'll be pulling your hair out when you get to Durlag's Tower.
Anyways, once your rogue is invisible, just walk them around while detecting traps and disarm them if possible. If you can't disarm them, at least you know where they are.
Neither of these functions causes you to break invisibility. You could talk the entire area and disarm all the traps without ever breaking invisibility.
Also, I wouldn't speed walk. Take a few steps, stop, take a few more, stop...etc.
The Detect Traps function cycles every few seconds so it is possible that there is a trap right in front of you that you haven't yet seen. Once the skill cycles another round the trap should become visible.
Good luck and have fun :)
Second location, spider nest.
I went to Durlag's Tower with 100 detect traps and it worked alright if you go slow.
I bumped it up to 110 and now it works like a charm.
I returned when she reached 90, and so far she's spotted and disarmed all but one. Definitely doable, just slow.
been counting down the xp 'til I can get there, but I'm afraid I'll be done done by the time I do...
Now one more question -- What thief skill is used to disarm traps? Open Locks? Or Set Traps?
