effective protection against spells and spell like abilities
Hi Im playing as a dragon disciple and want to know if there actually is any spell that will protect me from pretty much all spells and spell like abilities (e.g. Umberhulk confusion) in the vanilla BG2 a mirror image would protect me from spell like abilities since the attack didnt hit me but so far in bgee i ahvent seen a similar effect. my dragon disciple even gets hit by the magic damage art of attacks that otherwise cause no damage because they missed (doesnt make any sense that Im getting damaged if they cant hit me!!)

Do spell protections protect against things such as the example above?

I also used to like using shadow door as I couldn't be targetted by spells even after using an offensive spell and being under the normal invisibility part of the spell. I know aoe like fireballs could always still hit but what about aoe spells like confusion, wherethe animation shows spheres of magic flying awayfrom the middle ofthe point of casting towards enemies. Will my DD be protected by the invisibility as I remember seemed to be the case in vanilla BG2 or is it the same as fireball, stinking cloud etc?

thanks in advance to anyone who can clear these points up for me

Depends on your base saving throw value.

which saving throw value would give a 50 50 chance in the case of a spell taht causes no penalty to saving throws?

Like attack rolls, you roll a 20 sided die, so a value of 10 would give you a 50/50 chance, so if your base value was 14 you should have a 50/50 chance with improved invisibility. I think a better way to test it would be to get your base value down to 4, which would be 0 after improved invisibility, which means you succeed your saving throw 100% of the time if there is no penalty. In that scenario, if you were to fail your saving throw, you would automatically know that you do not get the bonus from improved invisibilty against them. Again though, just from experience with the game, I'm like 90% sure you do still get the bonus even against liches and demons.
