Thieves Guild in Baldur's Gate destruction
So this has always bugged me:

You see anonymous sinister building, they warn you it dangerous place. :steamhappy:But you are curious non-the-less. :steamhappy: Man give you job if you enter boilding, like it some kind o trap. Right? :steamhappy: But then you enter and it seem ok, the cloakroom attendent tell you to go through. It look like illicit gambling joint. They usher you through to boss man. He offer you job without asking for one. Nah not want job man I am pali, good you understand good i not do illegal stuff. But he insist because now you not leave because you now know it thieve guild. So you choice. Do job and become fallen pali or not do job and fight way out of building. But boss man say thieve guild there from 100 year. How you get out? It crawling with enemy.

Soooo......you suicide fight. :steammocking: But all guild attack you. But wait. They weak. They weaker than england football team :steamfacepalm: You fight boss man, you fight guild mage, you fight second in command all drop like fly...then wait...you remember.....the xvart village was more challenge.

So everyone dead. You shut down thieve guild in 5 minutes. It was there 100 years.

You it should've been that it was IMPOSSIBLE to take out the guild. Not you shut it down 5 minutes after first entering the gates of Baldur...

not realistic. 100 years gone in 5 minutes. O...k....

So, two things here. First, it is entirely possible to complete the guild tasks without falling. As long as you don't kill any innocents, you're good. The girl mages don't count as good or innocents. The Baldur's Gate series takes an ambivalent view of thieves. Although some are evil and others not, individually, it views the guild as just a normal part of society and an integral game element. My cavalier recently completed all the guild tasks, even the optional ones, and no REP loss at all. Maybe not good sense from RPG, but totally legit. And if you don't like this, just wait until BG2,...

As to wiping out the entire guild? Again, this can also be a plot element. You are really just killing the leadership. Think of the guilds like the drug cartels. You can take out the leaders, maybe even disrupt them to the point of collapse, and tomorrow a new one takes their place. Again, wait for BG2!

I was going to say something along these lines, but was afraid it would get into spoilerish territory. I don't like that there isn't a "good" option for that chapter....
