Will starting a new game delete my current game save files?
I started playing this game a couple of months ago. I got like 150 hours invested in it. I would like to pick it back up and continue in preparation to starting BG2. However, it would be good if I could just run through the beginning of the game again, so I can get used to the interface and the mechanics of the game again.

So if I start a new game, will I be able to continue my current game state afterwards? Or will it delete all my current save games? Or could I maybe make a backup of my current game state and restore it after I've gotten back into it?

Starting a new game will not delete old save files.

No, it won't, you should only be careful about quicksaves and autosaves that are shared between all playthrough (only those will be overwritten). Regular saves will remain in the folder.
Saving is possible and easy, just find the folder, any save has one folder.

I never relied on the quicksaves with my play through of the game. I have multiple saved games. Each save file started with the name of the character I used. I made a save at the start of each chapter, then at least one additional "progress" save per chapter.

The only problem I had was bloat from having too many saved games and having to sort through them....

Ok thanks for your answers everybody, it's clear and pretty straightforward how save files work and how I can achieve what I want.

Only thing I find a little strange is that it saves all those .bmp files in each folder. Seems pretty wasteful to me, as they amount to about half the size of the folder. But I guess you can have different (custom) avatars for your chars at any given time/save file, so it would need to keep those somewhere, I assume.

There you go. If you want examples, then see for yourself if you are that lazy.

Err.. what?

I had asked a question in the Street Fighter V forums about a completely different subject. No idea why Stelio followed me over here.... But I may take a look at that later. I tend to prefer reading over watching videos. If I have anything to add, I'll respond over there. :rose:

Then that's on you if you refuse to watch the given proof by yourself for whatever reason.

I might, I might not. But I won't discuss it here. Baldur's Gate isn't even the same game genre, dude!

If I feel like discussing it later, I will send you a friend request.

But still, that's on you for losing the entire argument for that reason.

No need! Hence why the argument is over.
