Quick-slot for spells not working??
I've memorized magic missiles but when I go to right-click to add the spell to the quick-spell slot, a "page turn" sound happens, but nothing else. I have no way to pick a spell to go into the slot. No ideas why, but this is obviously VERY frustrating.

Only items may be placed in the quick slots; things like potions, wands, and scrolls. You could put a magic missile "scroll" in a quick slot but any memorized spells have to be accessed via the spell button on the bar. BTW, a scroll used like this is cast at the level of who wrote the scroll and "not" the character using the scroll. If your mage is 7th level you'll get 4 magic missiles from your memorized spell, the scroll only gives you one IIRC.

Have you slept to make memorized spells available for casting? Can you cast the spell normally from the Cast Spell button?

You are describing Quick Item slots but there are also Quick Spell slots. These look identical to the main Cast Spell button, with the crescent moon and stars.

I think the OP just hasn't rest so the spells show up in the spell slots. But I'm curious about these "quick spell slots"--how do you assign and access them?

I think so too.

Anyway, when you select a character who can cast spells, one of the buttons at the bottom of the screen has a well visible moon-and-stars symbol. This is the main Cast Spell button. Immediately to the left are buttons with a similar symbol, except all dark. If you hover your mouse over those, you will see that they are called Quick Spell.

Right click on one and you get to select a spell to cast. The button will remember that spell, changing appearance to match it, so you later only have to left click.

Wow. I have over 200 hours in the game and I've somehow overlooked this. Thanks!

I'm going to try the sleep thing, but I've played the original game before (like in 1999) so I'm pretty sure the quick spell slots are needed to play. Anyway, I'm going to try the advice you've provided and update. Thank you!!
