But know that, being evil aligned, she will leave the party if your reputation gets too high. I know, that makes no sense, but that's how it is. Some companions and NPCs may also react violently to her presence.
Ah, okay... the Flaming Fist or whatever said she was a murdering drow and I just wasn't sure if I should take that as true at face value or not.
Anyway I like Viconia, I choose by pure roleplaying reason, but I usually save her. But don't get fooled by her talkings. She's a liar, evil and not undefended as she might let you presume. And that's why all her story is one of the most developped in all the saga.
I mean even Branwen tells Viconia to sod off when Vic compliment her.
I mean she is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to some companions but so is Dynaheir and she is LG.
But bg since it's release did wierd things with the companions that not always made sense.
I have not noticed that in BG1, but perhaps it's coming in SoD, which adds more character interactions then the original game ever had. In the original I never saw any interactions at all, let alone aimed at Viccy. (In EE Dorn has issues with other characters, especially Ajantis!)
As to the relationship, even if you let her be killed in BG1, she will reappear in BG2 for a more involved interaction, although you can let her be killed again, if you like. Just understand, when the locals want to kill her, this is more like the burning of witches at Salem (just because,...) and not directly related to any actual murder. However, having her around lowers the party rep by 2. That is the only real cost.
However, there is an excellent reason to save her. Killing this particular fist will not give you a reputation hit, and he is easier to kill than the three you encounter on the way to Nashkell. The reason to do it, aside from the XP, is he provides a free suit of plate mail at a time when you may not be able to afford it. And if it bothers your conscience, keep in mind the Flaming Fist are not noble paladins and protectors. They are mercenaries like the Gold Cloaks in GoT. Remember what they did to Ned Stark?
I will also add that, in BG2, you can redeem her from evil, if you really want to. Not all the way to LG, but we can't all be Drizzt.
