I got great news for you man cause I felt the same way. You can assign it to a hotkey!
Its really fun in BG 1 but backstabbing does fall off quite a bit.
Not really underrated, but considered less solid than others (berserker/kensai--> mage, paladins, archer, etc.), while I think that it shines expecially in solo run, expecially in BG1.
After that, I'd say Bard. Blade is the best kit, but they're all pretty solid. They aren't as good as the multiclasses they simulate, but they're playable and pretty strong all the way through the saga.
Fighter/Druid also doesn't get a lot of respect. Probably because the game gives you Jaheira and she has horrible stats. Also you need an insane roll for the dual class (15 STR, 17 WIS and 17 CHA).
I tried a Berserker/Druid once, the guy was unstoppable.
The pure utility guys are so versatile and fun to play.
There is a trick to them, though. Dual at 9 and don't level up your druid class until you get your fighter levels back...then give yourself grandmastery in a second weapon. I did quarterstaff as a berzerker and then took spear...then got the Impaler and used it to the end of the game. I dualed in SoD and I believe I had my fighter levels back by the end it.
I use a hot key even on thief characters that have it on the toolbar.
It works the same way thank goodness. It was almost a dealbreaker the lockpicking being hidden away like that.
I did it when I was younger I think I went all corny and used the guy from the green magic the gathering cards as the portrait. He looked like he could be a berserker/druid haha.
