Nice find, though.
You should send a bug report about it.
Report the Bug instead and add to a better gaming experiance.
out the Offical Beamdog Forum thread...
"Bug reporting will be handled using Redmine. If you do not yet have an account, register there first! If you can't see the bug report projects within 24 hours, contact @Cerevant. For those who tested with us before, we're using a drastically simplified approach - so no worries!"

Happy Bughunting.
PS: if people really wanted to cheat they boot up EE-Keeper and add stacks of Potions they want anyhow , just saying :)
Yes, you have very valid points. I used the rather melodramatic phrase "game ruining" when it was probably uncalled for. My feathers are ruffled mainly by the fact that this bug was introduced by Beamdog, but I imagine that's par for the course when you start upgrading/changing the UI.
to be fair they have to fight a 16 year old UI still using BITS not bytes ...BITS!
and playing Baldurs gate can be done in Hundreds of ways...and it wasent like people punched each other to play Beta...so naturally bugs sneak in.
the good thing is they still work and eradicate Bugs , found one myself where just selecting a Familar and zooming out would just CRASH the whole bloody game !
Thanks for pointing that out. I was about to do the same thing.
I don't think so, lol. You can simply not use it.
Wow, that's bold. Expecting people to register to some service to do the work of a game tester, unpaid I might add. I understand that a lot of people have that much desire to help, but in my eyes that's a little too much.
/e: Do you at least get a place in the game credits for doing that?
Mild outrage at a post-release consumer report tool? I mean, yeah, they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with the lax QA, but having to register in order to submit a bug report or a feature request seems like a smart choice. Just by gating it behind a registration they are avoiding an enormous amount of spam.
And post-release bug reports are extremely important, EVEN with QA. Instead of putting the players in testers's shoes, it is "hey if you find something we missed, please let us know".
They apparently missed a whole lot, though.
Yes, because "saying something is bold" == "mild outrage".
Yes, and asking for your data in the process. Look, I understand that Beamdog is not Facebook and the data is probably stored for no reason at all, but to people like me that is still asking for too much. Especially when the only thing that I can do by registering is working for free. (I still think being listed in the credits wouldn't be asking for too much. And since I'm not using the service I got no horse in the race.)
But as I said, that is just my opinion. There are people that will use the service and that's their business. I won't, though.
I disagree with the "working for free" assessment since it is post-release consumer feedback, but other than that, I see your point.
If you did find a bug, reporting it so it could get fixed would be a net positive, but I can see why you would not want to register!
Well, you didn't work in software development, I guess. Recreating bugs was part of what I did for quite some time. Granted I also fixed them and didn't only write a report. To me the manual on how to report still reads like an assignment from an employee.
And post-release bug reports are important for the company I work for, and fixing them is the highest priority. In the cases I've seen where that happens QA gets a severe scolding, haha.
oh gee , you have to enter a first and last name , the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horror .. you can name yourself "Hans Peter" if you want to...nobody is checking that.
if you dont wanna report bugs cause a 1 min registration turns you off thats okay , but then dont open your trap if you find any bug to your disliking.
the nerve ...
