Beamdog removing the meme
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/51161/beamdog-statement-on-siege-of-dragonspear/

Good to see that Beamdog are seeing sense and are getting rid of the joke, Minsc is back to being Minsc and the game is moving away from internet drama in a more positive way, also the idea of them changing the trans character I'll be looking forward to the changes!

I'm still a little concerned of some reviews, the bugs are a bit meh and I've heard some rumors about forcing the playable character to be nasty to Jaheria which isn't very good for RP, my character respects Jaheria greatly and she becomes like family in ToB but maybe it's just rumor.

Either way this is good to see, would still like to see an apology as the way the devs have been lumping their entire fanbase all as a hate group isn't the best way to win back your customers but this is a really good step in the right direction.

Minsc may be a warrior but never a SJW - rather a redneck if anything. ;-D
By the way, even Beamdog meanwhile admits that this line is completely out of character for him.

If nothing else, I will acknowledge it here. I've said it before and I'll repeat it now, there's plenty of legitimate criticism to be had and heard. Hopefully there's a bit more space for those criticisms to breathe.
You are the most two faced developers ever. What happend to your "deal with it" , "not real Baldurs Gate fans" attitude? Changed the same second when you started running out of money? Not insulting player base any more? Why,cant do wihtout them?
Dee isn't the same person as Amber.

We shouldn't use what Amber says to try to make Dee out to be a hypocrite, because that's just disingenuous

instead, use the instance where Dee was complaining to jezebel and anita that "gamergate" was launching "a negative review campaign about a game that features a transgender character"

They pissed on the og Baldur's Gate writing and then patted themselves on the back about how much better theirs was. No amount of backpedaling will change that. To hell with Beamdog.

I am sorry, but no.

Khalid has suffered some problems in the past (thats why he stutters) and Jaheira has been the one taking care of him ever since. She is also the one who got Khalid into the Harpers,

Sure this is told in BG2, but in BG1:

She has the strong, commanding voice. She seems to always be the one that to give out strong opinions whenever she and khalid talk about something.

Heck, at points Khalid seems to be the cowardly one, while she marches on. He is even afraid of going agaist her "the insufferable line".

If anything, the fact that Khalid sounds and acts weaker while Jaheira is the tough voiced the more foward one of the couple outright denies any samblance of "nagging wife" one might have.

Agreed, it´s also a good example that showing (her behaviour) instead of telling is good storytelling.

They didn't crap on the writing. The interview does not say Baldur's Gate's writing and writing team were garbage. We're better! It says parts of some characters like Safana being little more than a sex object and Jaheira being the overbearing wife came off to them as sexist. She said she wanted to expand Safana and Jaheira to give them more depth by giving them character arcs. Pretty much no character in BG1 has an arc to speak of. Party members insult or compliment each other and comment on the environment once in a while. The only person who shows a bit of depth is actually Coran's absentee father/baby quest.

Whether or not you agree that the original depictions of Safana and Jaheira were sexist, that doesn't equate with Beamdog calling the entire product poorly written and inferior to their capabilities.

When they change the writing can they put Steven Seagal in it and call the game Under Siege of Dragonspear? That'd be swell. :steammocking:

What class would he be? BG1 is too low level for a Monk to shine... And monk seems appropriate for Seagal.

You start off as a chef in the candlekeep inn, but it gets invaded by kobolds and they take everyone hostage.

The people who were attacking critics really need to take stock of the fact that not even the developers themselves publically support you now.

Take a moment to think about that. I am. :)

That doesnt make sense, if no one is supporting the devs then the ones who dont support them dont care, think about that.

The majority of those banned were using hateful speech and slurs. You know, the stuff that GG claims are a bunch of outliers? This should be seen as a positive to both sides.
