Did you return it to him or did you kill him for his stuff?

I just killed him and wasn't expecting how many mid level scrolls he dropped. Plus the heroism potions and archmagi robe.
Plus the 26k exp icing on top.

Does this have any negative effects in bg2 like attacking Drizzit does?
