Why the Minsc easter egg needs to go.

This easter egg has done nothing but divide the community, you've got one group that just want to enjoy the game, then you have another who are just spiteful trolls who like that you've put a joke in the game that has made people they see as their enemies unhappy, is this the kind of community you want the next Baldurs Gate games to bring? I sure hope not.

From one fan to the series to another, I can forgive you if you at least remove the meme and don't put anymore into your games, I want to support you every step of the way, I have supported you on Android and PC (I prefer android atm tbh) but please, no more memes.
Just be fans, go back to when you first played the game and was in awe of the games art and characters, that giddy feeling you got at the end of Baldurs Gate 2 bring THAT back.

And I'll be honest, when I heard Irenicus and Minsc again in your trailer, I got that feeling. You almost had that Baldurs Gate feeling again but you've let people use that line to divide the community and now that's all we have.

i reckon a lot of it has to do with context. if beamdog were generally a politically neutral entity and came out with this i don't think there would have been too much of an uproar but when you consider it in the context of dee very publicly allying himself with sarkessian and jezebel and their writer the venerable ms scott basically saying in an interview "i'll do what i want and if you don't look it i don't care suck it" you can maybe appreciate the 'joke' was meant more as an attack and as a way of using bg to promote their opinions.

Then be the bigger man and don't let it get to you. Demanding it be taken out is still censorship, no matter how they meant it.

I get where you're coming from but I don't want to see Baldur's Gate go down this direction. I just want to play a new Baldurs Gate and not be lectured to or assume I find all of their friends in-jokes funny. I want to think about what's happening in the game, that's what I'm/was hyped about, I'm not hyped about GamerGate or internet memes, being forced on characters I know and love.

This is also Beamdog something that they want fans to consider canon. Now you may say "Well just don't buy it." and I won't be buying it at it's current state but I have a right to speak, as a fan, on what is stopping me from buying the game.

I don't want Baldurs Gate and other big CRPG's to start turning into the hollywood "remakes" we get from Hollywood that tried to "Cater to a bigger demographic" by dating their "remakes" by using pop culture and jokes that only a handful of people will get.

"It's just one line, come on." you might say and you're right, it's just one line and that's more than enough. I would rather they come away from this thinking "No, don't add any more pop culture to the game, it alienated our fans." rather than "Well...bigotry is bad...let's have Irencius talk about building a wall in our Irencus redemption expansion, that way people can know that bigotry is bad."

Am I happy that I have to ask for censorship? No. I never thought I would be saying that I need to say that a company who are fans of Baldurs Gate should take out popculture memes and in a franchise I care deeply about, but here I am.

I'm not completely naive to think what I say will have any effect, I've seen people post that the creators are just writing off all of us and GGers and not "true fans" which is heart breaking, they're forcing this "With us or against us." mentallity, I just want to support the game without internet drama being forced on me within the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, is that REALLY so much to ask? This is Baldurs Gate ffs, not twitter -_-

When a company produces a game and prefers to one up a particular group with an eventually dated meme it shows where their priorities are and it's not about making the best art in form of game they possibly can,it's about showing how smart they are and pushing their ideologies in unappropriate places.

I was planning to buy all the enhanced editions to support the remake of those games.I won't do it to not support the abominations they will produce.

i'm in a position where i can give my opinion against it and i'm every bit as opinionated as those barndog guys -- i'm just smart enough to keep my dumbass opinions out of my professional life.

I fail to understand how am I being misgynist as the character saying the line is a male telling a joke breaking the forth wall refering to a group of computer gamers I never heard about.
I don't know how this makes me a person who hates women.

It's ugly because I love the original games and not because I obviously hate women.
Please my 20 or more copies of those games to support more of their losses from lots of other people who also loved BG but won't buy it.

What Beamdog really should do is think about whether or not they really want to be represented by meme-spouting nitwits who fill their work with dated internet inside jokes and can't write dialogue to save their life.

They're never going to do that. They're just going to double-down and pretend it's all about the bigotry instead of dealing with the fact that gamers seem to be, mostly, sick-and-tired of the SJW cry-bully ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and they just need to move on and stop attacking their audience.

And, fwiw, there's another social group I belong to (science bloggers) that got infested with SJWs. The SJWs pretty much destroyed it. But, ironically, one of the leaders of the SJWs in that group (and a former family friend) had one of the most popular blogs on the Internet with an Alexa Ranking in the Top-5000 and multiple awards and was a frequently demanded guest speaker at conferences.

Now he's toxic and hasn't been invited to a conference in yeares. He's lost so many former readers and collaborators (including all his college and professional friends) with all his SJW attack-dog crap that he was below 50,000 last time I checked. And his google rankings have dropped through the floor as well.

He has, by being an SJW Cry-Bully, destroyed his blogging network. Even his partner quit! And yet he keeps doubling down. He gets more and more vitriolic every time he writes. And his loyal, and ever diminishing followers, keep acting like they're winning.
