Okay. Just finished the game. Loved it. THought it was lacking a few things.

Like not being able to seduce the Shining Lady. What is more fun then being the child of murder and seducing the holy paladin on a crusade? Am I right? But I romanced both Corwin and Neera at the same time. Im such a play boy Swashbuckler :P

The ending. Decent. I won't give any spoilers but it does a decent job tying up the first game and second. My only hope is to see that the events in SoD can carry over somewhat into BG2:EE. Cause otherwise what was the point?

Shame I lose all my stuff. I had a kick ass katana. Also why can't Baeloth be in BG2 now? He is like the best companion to have. His stuff in SoD was hilarious XD.

The goblin shaman was also cool. Shame she won't appear in BG2, unless they can change that.

All in all, I think it was a good, decent first attempt at creating their own stories and offering something new and original to the Baldurs Gate series. I hope to see more expansions, maybe something that goes into things after Baldurs Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal? Course that might be tough depending on if you go God Mode or not. Eh, can dream.

Still, my only request is the next time they make a holy paladin lady as an antagonist, they got to let us be able to seduce her.

a fair review on SOD, hope those angry heads can be cool again :))

Indeed. Felt it had to be done to give something that resembles a review.

I hope some things and events carry over to BG2.

Oh and another point I was a bit disappointed about. When you walk across the bridge where Bhaal died....well I was just upset I didn't get any cool new powers :(

Glad you enjoyed something you spent your money on. I feel that the writing is poor and gameplay generally unpolished / buggy. Perhaps it gets better later.

I am replaying Baldur's Gate, going trough the first one and after that the second one. Would you recommend to play the official games first or do in order of BG1 after SoD then DG2?

Also about all the policity controversy, I know the most of the time it is exaggerated (about how much SJW there is), is it really that bad? Like is it omnipresent or only the 2-3 things we hear? I don't like the way the dev are talking to they're costumers, but if in game it feels like BG I still wanna play it if it's not too much political agency into it ( I'm an open guy, but I don't like when they try to shoe-horn it into our throat, I want good writing, I don't really care about the message behind it.)

Thanks!

There is a transexual NPC, and Minsc takes a jab at Gamergate. That is about it for "SJW" stuff. Really not a big deal. If you are looking for good writing however, you might be in for some dissapointment.

Would you suggest I play it after I've done every games? Do this DLC as last thing if I'm bored?

Well Aleigor it all depends on yourself really. Me, I like connective story so what I did was a month before the DLC I replayed BG1, with my swashbuckler, and then imported the game and thus my char, all his awsome gear and friends like Neera who he romanced in BG1 into SoD. Then tried to reforge the old gang along the way to Dragonspear. Added Corwin and the goblin shaman to make up for not having Imoen :(. But found Neera and Dorn and Baeloth. Gave some awsome comments and funny banters between each other.

After that I romanced Corwin AND Neera at the same time XD. By the time I finished SoD I got both of their Celebration end conversations and just pretended they had a big three way or something. My guy is a player. Now I have imported that game into BG2 and am just sad I lose my cool red bladed katana :(

Thanks for your review and opinion. Maybe I'll buy it at a much later point thanks to you, but definitely not now.

What happened to them?

Play the originals first.

Go here and look for all the mods to fix the basic game (ie bug fix, hd resolution, etc...:
(or just google Gibberlings BG mods, etc..)

http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?app=downloads

Additional mods, etc... here

http://sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_mods.php

You can even patch up the original BG game with the BG2 engine and then have them seamlessly move into each other as well.

Honestly, after that... there really is no need to play the EE ones, they are a disappointment mostly.

Nah, there are some quality of life improvements that have no mod equivalent, such as the zoom functionality (unless that was added in gemrb but I have not tried that), and much faster loading.

Most of the mods (if they do not require TOBEX) are also available, and they can even work with the current patch if you run modmerge before installing them. So far I have had no problems with misplaced strings on bg1npc by doing that.

That integrates the dialog files so weidu knows what to move where.

Lots of mainstream features as well. What little you gain from the EE's is not enough to accept the horrible changes they made to game play and the like in their versions in my opinion, especially for 20 bucks.
