The update set my difficulty to easy for some reason. Check the difficulty setting in the gameplay section of the options menu.
As far as the new UI goes you should be able to access the game's 1.3 version in the beta tab in the games steam settings if you want to revert back to the previous version of the game. At the moment a toggle button isn't an option though.
The character record portion of the UI itself was based on community feedback. There was one user in particular on the beamdog forums who came up with an idea for how to change it.

I and others in the Beta builds outright told them that this was going to be a controversial change that plenty of people were going to hate.
Believe me the current record screen we have now is a huge compromise and a god-send that needed to be fought tooth and nail over what the original proposed crappy Beta design was..
I agree that I still hate the new spellbooks though.
Wait, what's wrong with having multiple quicksaves? I think it caps at like 4 or 5 and gives you options in case you accidentally quicksave at an inopportune moment.
Also yeah, all patches always break mods and you have to reinstall them. Check your weidu.log to see the order you had previously installed them in and do it in that order again after patching.
Because it´s annoying to always delete saves i don´t need, i hate having tons of save files. Might as well give an option to turn it off if you change it, no? Shouldn´t be much of a problem.
Yeah, i´m aware on how to mod the game, but that was about a specific BG2 mod anyway which should be fine, will have to try it out. But for now..new game in BG1 ;)
If you'd like to just have 1 quick save use this mod.

Thanks a bunch! I guessed that such a fix would come but damn, that was really fast :D
Was a design that a fan came up with, which is much better than Beamdog's vision of.. whatever the hell they were thinking. I still prefer the original, but it's an acceptable compromise I suppose and certainly better than the original Beta version..

Hmm, might be different again in BG2 (Haven't looked yet) and possibly if/when they do the same thing to Icewind dale also. Was more talking about the overall design and layout of it being arbitrarily changed.
If I put on robes, my femae Elven mage has green legs and ALL her trim colors are in the wrong places (minor color replacing the major color on her sleeves). And with any armor equipped, Imonen has strange cut-lines where the armor colors come part-way down her legs (past the actual edges of the armor's paperdoll) and then changes to her major clothing color in a sharp horizontal line. Almost like she's wearing the world's strangest tights.
Anyway, I found a download of the BG2 paperdoll's .PLTs extracted for use in EE, and it fixed all those problems. Unfortunately, as of today's patch changes, the paperdolls now all have neon-green backgrounds, instead of transparent ones. I thought I could extract the EE .PLT files and compare how their transparecnies are handeled now, but there are two problems with that. First, the paperdoll.bif was NOT updated today. Moreover, all the files it contains are barely over 1kb when extracted, wherease the BG2 files are all around 40kb.
Does anyone know what changes were made to paperdolls and/or how their transparencies are done for the 2.0 patch?
