Is There Any Reason to Keep Rasaad?
I mean he's an awful fighter. He can't use any weapons. Can't wear any armor, and, literally, he doesn't seem able to fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

Does he open up a new are like the wild mage? Does he lead you to a valuable magic item trove? He's in my party now, but I'm on the verge of dumping him.

I always drop that useless bald freak off at the circus, where he belongs.

I've heard there's a new area and quest if you keep him around long enough, but I just can't do it... he sucks too bad.

He is the most useless piece of dead weight in the party, and that's counting the female mage I picked up at the gnoll's fort. She, at least, can toss the occasional fireball into the crowd of enemies, thinning them out.

Well, he's going about now, in the iron throne's mine in cloackwood. Hope he can swim or tread water.

It's unfortunate, but Monks typically aren't that great at low levels. And as this game focuses on those low levels, he never really gets a chance to get going. He's better in 2EE, though whether he compares to the other recruitable chars is still kinda iffy.

If you want a male romance without a mod, he's the best choice though. If you're into evil guys, Dorn's romanceable too.

I mostly want characters who can kill people or critters well.

His questline eventually leads to belt that sets the wearers STR to 19. That's about it.

Monks aren't bad...but they do require more micromanagement and creative use to be effective. More importantly...don't go bare-handed...I'd actually recommend darts or throwing daggers (with 1 point in single weapon style for the double crit chance)..the damage isn't that much different then your fists and you can use his speed to kite enemies while taking advantage of 2-3 attacks per round, and if you've got a mage, make sure to buff him with Strength, it'll help a fair bit and lasts a pretty good while. As you get to around 6-7, he can finally start to reliably hit enemies with unarmed attacks and his number of attacks becomes similar to that with darts. Just make sure to let someone else get focus, then run in and attempt a stunning blow, and then wail on them, running away if they try to turn towards him.

Already found the book that got my swashbuckler up to 19 strength. But if a brand new area was available that would be worth checking out.

Rasaad is terrible.

I do have Rasaad in my Party, just don't put him up front and give him Katana. At the present he is lvl 6 and quit deadly.

I equipped Rasaad with Drizzit's scitimars. That should keep him going for a while...

He always dies on me. so I quit using him.

I'm about to fire Rassad for a cute habit he's developed. We go single file in dungeons mostly, and he's at the back of the line. Apparently he doesn't like it. Twice now he's zoomed up to the front and run into the leader, knocking them forward. Knocked Imoen into a trap she was about to disarm. Third time will be deemed 'enemy action.'
That's one of the problems with the path-finding. Someone thought it would be clever idea to make companions push away eachother in order to reach a target. Better disable AI when disarming traps.

Rasaad in BGEE is a role-playing option and doesn't fit to very every party or difficulty level.

It gets more interesting in BG2EE. Stealth monk with Sun Soulbeam is fun.

BGEE is what I'm in, and he's got the sunburn beam. Love it a lot, it's real quick.
Stealth monk with holy hand grenade is also cool (explosive potion, etc.)

I know AI was off, so that's not it. Should have just ordered Imoen to approach trap, w/o party. So, I guess Rasaad can stay....

He still sucks in melee even with the +2 scimitar that's named after him, but he sucks less. One good role for him is to throw darts at mirror images. Speed is good!
