PSA: Playing with friends, disable Dragonspear
Just wanted to make sure this frustration doesn't happen to anyone else.

I spent 2 hours trying to get multiplayer working with a friend of mine. And after Making sure we were both on the same version of the game, port forwarding, using hamachi, disabling windows firewalls, and bashing our heads against a wall for a bit, it donned on us that One of us (me) had Siege of Dragonspear installed, and the other did not.

Even though we were trying to play Baldur's Gate, the fact I had Dragonspear made it impossible for us to even see eachother's games, direct connect to eachother, or join the same public game together (we couldn't even see the same games, and now we know why)

If one of you has SoD installed, Go into your installed DLC, Uncheck dragonspear, restart the game. You'll have to re-download SoD later, but it shouldn't affect anything else.

Another solution would be just to rename the DLC file in your BG folder.

Is this "Working as Intended?" I'm not fully aware of any changes that having Dragonspear installed would affect the base game. Is there something Mechanically different like "Dragonspear intrudced new character features to the base game" that would cause us to not be able to play together?

I mean, the fix is easy enough, its a checkbox, but it's somewhat... confusing. I thought SoD Was just a new module, and the rest of the game was patched with a general graphical update, though I could be wrong.

Sure the UI Looks a little spiffier, but there's no added buttons or functionality.

Thank you very much. Very good to know I didn't convince my friend to drop 50 bucks on both BGs for no reason.
