With EE companions and in baldurs gate 2 you have an option to tell them to go to a certain area when dismissed so they aren't lost forever in the middle of nowhere. This does not apply to original characters in baldurs gate. Not that I recall any exceptions at least. You leave them at the spot where you dismiss them.
So, without cheats, I'm afraid Ajantis is gone forever. Since Dorn is EE, you should've accepted him and dismissed immediately, I think he goes back to the friendly arm inn, so you could later leave Ajantis or someone somewhere safe and play with Dorn when you feel like it.
I messed up everything, I was thinking that If I refuse Dorn I should lose him forever and I was thinking that Ajantis should return to that same place that I meet him first time... This makes me so sad...
Thank you very much, I will try it
This is why you don't find companions in random temporary ambush areas, except for Dorn, but you can just send him away and it will be fine. So cudoz to beamdog for that, they though it through.
The closest thing to this being a problem is Yeslick. You need to kick him outside of the mines where you find him, cuz you won't be able to enter that area again after flooding it... Although, he's one of the few companions that you can find later after saving him
