Generally, the BG/IWD games are made to be played with much lower, more random stats - depending on difficulty and dual-classing preferences, of course. If it's single-class characters and average difficulty, no need to spend much time on waiting for high rolls. There are enough potions, items and spells to boost characters.
The most important thing is that you have an 18 STR, DEX and CON, and at least >50 exceptional strength for the +2 to hit bonus. So for a paladin who also has to have a minimum WIS of 13 and CHA of 17, that means a total roll of 94 (if you don't want an INT penalty) and an exceptional strength >50. You're well beyond that.
You'll find stat books in the game that can permanently raise each attribute by 1. Every stat has one except for WIS, which has 3 for some reason. You get the STR one fairly late but, assuming you're planing to play through BG2 (and possibly SoD), you'll prefer a higher total roll to a lower one with a 100 exceptional strength.
I understand and thank you I'm going to go with this roll
Str: 18(90).
Dex: 18.
Con: 18.
Int: 12.
Wis: 14.
Cha: 18.
I put it rolling a paladin and only managed to get a 98 in all that time. Heh, so yeah...I'd take that roll.
Best I ever got was a 101...on an elven archer so a complete waste. I know I only got that roll from the racial and class minimums causing rerolls, but still would be nice to get that on multiclass or future dual class character.
Though I typically just EE keeper myself with what stats I need. heh I just roll in game for exceptional strength. that 101 I mentioned was only like 10 rolls in when I got it.
interesting.
my highest ever on a ranger was 99. i rolled that in around 2 hours. i never managed to roll higher than 96 on a paladin though (not that i create them very often), but usually it takes less than 30 minutes to get at least 93. are you sure your script ran as intended? although, i wouldn't be surprised if a thief or a mage took that long to get 101...
pretty sure...just clicked the button and pulled the total from the window. Rolled about 3 or 4 times per second.

I will never delete that Paladin. Been playing this game for what like 20 years? And never even came close to that before. I don't even think I had ever seen a 98. Unfortunately his strength isn't exceptional but after you get the tome that no longer matters anyway. I just wish I could get back the two points I put in long swords and instead give it to warhammers, but it is what it is.
