You can get Gauntlets of Dexterity really early in BG1, so just go get them for Kagain. TBQH, all the possible tanks options could do with them.

Jaheria or Ajantis because they have high CHA. Ankheg plate, gloves of dex, +1 shield and ring.

Sure. High CHA party leader can be beneficial because of various reaction adjustments:

But for a tank??

You make the high CHA character your party leader because it affects shop prices and conversations. Then they might as well be the tank since they're first in line. Plus Jaheira's damage output sucks unless you go dual clubs and have the 18/00 gloves which is towards the end. So she might as well be the tank.

there are different ways to do it... resist nasties, self heal, high health, hard to hit. This screams monk later (bg1 not so much), or a paladin that is immune to disease/level drain/etc, or a cleric. The first big guy in line is going to be the target of fears, holds, charms, and physical attacks. Counter that stuff, and you are darn near indestructible. Indestructible chars don't always do great damage, though, BG is sort of an exception to that due to the high stat rolls you can get. Khalid might do but he runs if he gets hit, making him basically worthless at anything other than archery. If you want the NPCs... its a tough group to pick from, none of them really have the health/dex/armor/resists you would want to just stand there and take it. I am thinking you need to roll your own char (or roll 2 with the create group option) if you want someone excellent at the role. One of {paladin, cleric, fighter-cleric} seem like the best options to me, pick sword and shield style.

Im doing as tank F/I focus of armor, mirrar image, etcétera, with Branwen and Viconia supporting and doing as demi-tank with the spells (two clerics for banters of NPC PROJECT)

Kagain's DEX might be average, but his CON is 20 which gives him natural hp regeneration. As other people have pointed out, getting him the Gauntlets of Dexterity will definitely help.

Kagain will make an excellent tank, but poor party leader as his CHA is only 8. Even if you acquire the Nymph Cloak in Baldur's Gate, you will still only have a CHA of 10. For evil parties, Dorn Il-Khan is probably the best leader, besides the Bhaalspawn.
