baldur's gate melf's minute meteors keeps unequipping sling?

Ok so i got melf's minute meteors since i heard they are great and they are issue is everytime they run out my sorcerer wants to switch to his fists and starts walking right into the battle is there to stop this? Seems like all AI scripts does this.

Your character may be switching to a different weapon slot to use Meteors; try placing your sling in that weapon slot.

Your character may be switching to melee after depleting all of the Meteors; change the setting that says something like "don't melee after depleting one ammo stack".

Also, use the Advanced AI setting instead of a script to give you more control over your character; Turn "prefer ranged weapons" ON.

Also, turn automatic attacking off if their attacking is messing up your strategy.
