But, in bg2, i think Vampire is good.
In general, the devs overcompensated for the presence of vampires in the critical path of BG2 by giving the party way to many weapons that kill undead on hit (e.g. azuredge and daystar are available right away and the mace of disruption can be obtained before the fight with Bodhi)
Demonic or dragon are really the only racial enemies that are dangerous and do not have any easily available hard counters.
I agree, but i usually don't have issues against dragons and vampires are basically everywhere from chapter 2, so i just pick vampires for convenience. And yeah, probably demons are the best, but since there isn't that many demons, imo you get the best bang for the buck choosing vampires.
edit: if you pick Keldorn, you basically ♥♥♥♥ on every dragon in the game using dispel magic, but obviously, this is extremely specific.
BG2: Demons or Vampires. Dragons aren't a bad choice, but you know when you're going to fight one and can fully prepare, they'll never surprise you. I lean towards Vampires since they're so common...even if they're kind of squishy.
