Custom Classes
Is there a utility out there that would allow me to use existing game assets to actually create my own class? Ideally, I would like to create a new class name with its own description, pick and choose different spells and abilities from the entire database that would be available to that class, rename said spells (but only for that class, not globally), and change their descriptions. I would leave all the numbers and effects alone.

Is doing something like this possible in Keeper? I've never used it before, so I don't know anything about it. And if not, is there anything that could make this possible?

I feel a true DnD game should allow something like this for some really solid RP. Surely not everyone on the Sword Coast holds only the professions listed at the start of the game. :-) (Er...then again, I suppose it IS called the "Sword Coast," but whatever. You know what I mean.)

You'd need Near Infinity and what you are suggesting is alot more work than it seems like it should be, but I think I'd start by ripping into some of the existing mods that add classes. (I've never actually tested them so I'm not sure how they work.)

Interesting. So there are already mods out there that do add new classes? Now I'm wondering how those were made, and how difficult they were to make.

Do you happen to have a list of the new classes or know where I can find info on them? A download link? (Not a direct download, but a summary page or something.)

I haven't seen new classes, but I've definately seen a whole bunch of new kits. I'm not sure what the limitations are though as far as abilities. I thought I saw new races once before as well... I may be thinking of NWN2 or something.

Gibberlings 3 has been creating and updating mods for this engine since before the EE.
Their forums have a ton of information on custom kits and such, or you may find what you want already built on there under "Items/Kits/Spells":

The Beamdog forums have a consistantly updated post on SOD compatable mods here:

The Beamdog forums are way more active than the Gibberlings 3 forums. You can most likely find help there if nobody else chimes in on here.

Try http://www.sorcerers.net/ as well. Might have been kits I was thinking of as opposed to straight classes but it should still be able to get the job done.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to take a look around.
