xzar and montaron quest

Im a bit confused with these two fellas. They tell me to go to that city, however after that nothing more seems to happen. Do I have to go to a certain area or talk to a certain person to continue their quest? Is there even a quest in the first place?

They just want you to go to Nashkel with them. Nothing crazy or hidden.

There is a tiny bit more later in the game, but its hardly worth mentioning.

Slightly off tangent, but if I don't recruit them from their original locations, and then I finish the Nashkel quest, are they gone for good? I went back to their original location and couldn't find them anymore. They're not in the Friendly Arms Inn either.

Khalid, Jaheira, Xzar, and Montaron will disappear forever if you complete the Nashkel Mines without ever talking to them. But if you recruit them before that and then kick them out, they'll stay wherever you left them.
