EXP Cap..
Im fairly new to BG and the whole system.. and forgive for the repost, im sure its a common question.. I have just got to level 8 with my character and the others i think, and his exp is stuck around 89300?

why is it not possible to go any further?

i have read some things about exspansion packs, but have no clue where to start.

I have bought the BG:EE pack from steam and downloaded it..

What else can i do?

I feel like not gaining exp and leveling up for your efforts is kinda sucking out the fun for me.

Any info would be appreciated :)

thankyou!

The XP cap table is found in there. 161,000 XP for BGEE - 500,000 XP for SOD - 8,000,000 for BG2 EE.

ok i will have a look thankyou..

you say XP cap is 161,000?

how come i cannot go above 90000?

sorry if im being basic haha.

I'm guessing you are a multiclass and you are getting 80500 in each class like Jahiera did.

Screen shot me. both classes count toward the XP cap.

*EDIT* oh you are playing without Tales of the sword coast on some old hardcopy? yeah EE has tales of the sword coast so its XP cap is 161,000 without it the cap is 89,000 The cap of the Siege of dragonspear is 500,000 and SoA was 2.25 Mill? around there, and Throne of Bhaal was 8 Million.

which you wouldn't reach with a 6 man party.

im not sure? i downloaded it straight off steam, so i dont know if i even have talks of the sword coast?

where would i find it?
Maybe show a screenshot of the character record?

Btw, Tales of the Sword Coast is included with BGEE. It's some extra areas on the world map.

You can enable the Steam overlay, then make a screenshot using the Steam app (by pressing F12, by default), and the app can upload the screenshots to your Steam account. Embedding them in a forum post is easy.

Your only option is to find and install some XP cap remover mod.

But there shouldn't be any problems finishing the game with a Fighter level 8 and some companions.

First: Here is the complete list of XP caps:
BG1 Original: 89k xp
BG1+TotSC: 161k xp
BG1+SoD 500k xp.
BG2 SoA: 2.95M xp.
BG2+ToB: 8M xp.

As soon as the expansions are installed the XP cap is heightened, so in BG1 your if you have SoD installed from the get go you can go up to 500k xp (theoretically at least, but it would take an insane amount of grinding) before entering the SoD part of the game.

An alternative to getting Siege of Dragonspear to increase your XP cap would be to get a mod that removes or alters the XP cap.
Only the Black Pits XP cap gets increased to 500,000, not the base BGEE game.

In the bioware version there was a mod to remove it, or at least raise it. I imagine it's about as moddable now.
