Tutorial - stuck in very first room
Hi. I have never played this game. I am going though the tutorial. I made a party of six characters. The tutorial is instructing me to go upstairs. My primary party leader can move around, but the other 5 seem to be stuck, stacked on top of each other in the first room. When I click on the stairs it says "you must gather your party before venturing forth." But 5 member of my party are trapped at their spawn location.

Try selecting the members one at a time (click on their portraits) and move them to seperate spots

I tried that with each of the characters. I did not work for any of them. They all appear to be stuck on top of one another, besides my party leader. Only he can move around.

It isn't necessary to create a party for the tutorial afaik. It might be simpler to just abort the tutorial and begin again. You can import a character for the tutorial rather than worry about making one for your play through. When you start a new game you can import again, or create one yourself at that time.

I can try that, but is this a known bug? Its kind of shockingly bad to have a full game-stopping bug at essentially the 4th click in the tutorial. If the tutorial doesn't support having a party, then the game really shouldn't allow you have a party for it, hahah. I will try running through it with a single character.

and THANK YOU for your help. it's been kinda frustrating.

I just ran into the same problem. It's really frustrating to be stuck just when you start to get to know the game....

This is not a bug. The tutorial was designed for a single character not a pre-made party. Other characters like Xan, Branwen, Imoen, Minsc and Jaheira are supposed to join your party and provide certain instruction on how things work as the the tutorial progresses.

If the party is full, they are unable to join and the tutorial cannot move forward. As Proctor Cain suggested, restart this using only 1 character. You can export any characters before you delete it. Pick one and then using the import function mentioned use it to do the tutorial.

If you wanted to give them all the same experience level, run it 6 times using each different character you created and export them again when you are ready to talk to Belt for the last time and finish it.

When you start the game proper, you should be able to create a party of however many of them you like. (you might consider leaving 1 or 2 open slots so you recruit onthers along the way and complete their quests).

I thought Candlekeep in the Prologue was the tutorial to be honest. You have the keepers explaining everything and those fetch quests and rat fights....that isn't the tutorial? So there's a tutorial within the tutorial it seems

Originally that was indeed the tutorial for BG1 before EE came out. What is now labeled as the tutorial was originally the tutorial for BG2 before EE came out. I have the original CD sets for both. For some reason Beamdog decided the move it to BG1 for the EE, go figure.

Logically if you look at it, why would you be in the ducal palace "before" you even start BG1. It made sense for it to be the tutorial for BG2 since you figuratively had finished BG1.
