Normal skeletons are common, and with their resistance to missle weapons you pretty much need to take them on in melee. Many of them carry throwing daggers and they'll be tossing them as you close the distance. Normal ones aren't as big a threat as the warriors, and a Cleric's Turn Undead can usually handle them. If not destroying them, it should at least make them panic. Skeleton warriors are stronger, but less common.
I like to take Spiders as mine. Fairly common and most kinds are poisonous except the Sword Spiders which hit pretty hard.
Also i think the spiders one is a great idea. Poison is annoying at any level, can kill your guys out of nowhere if you are not watching closely, and needs a lot of preparation and resources to deal with.
Also nº2 xd take advantage of your experience with the game. What was the enemy harder to kill? What kind of enemies the party you are using has more disadvantage against?
Kobolds, gnolls, talstois, xvarts and gibberlings are already so weak that if they were racial enemy the dmg bonus might always be an overkill.
Ghasts and ghouls - naah, they are slow enough to be handled from distance. Carrion crawlers and ettecups are too rare for using a benefit.
I wish there were the option of humans as racial enemy, but that might be bit overpowered =)
Correct. It's a restriction in BG, or maybe just Advanced DnD rules.
I just checked it's a choice for BG2 but not for BG.
Demonic/fell will become useful as well.
And Troll at times.
Human will of course get the most bang for buck.
