Can't identify as Garrick
I read in another thread that Garrick has a way to identify stuff, but I can't seem to do it. Do I need to get him to a certain level, or did they mean he can use the identify spell? Thanks

Lore Skill.

Garrick is a bard. So.... Yeah. every class gets lore when they level up, fighters get the least, bards get the most. having high INT and WIS means more Lore per level.

every magic item has a lore value, if you exceed the lore value of the item it gets identified when you look at it.

so yeah garrick probably needs more levels.

Actually, lore per level only depends on the profession (bards get the most by far, wizards and thieves get some, warriors almost none).
High INT and WIS provide a fixed amount of bonus lore.

As Garrick is neither very intelligent nor wise, he will require several levels before his bard bonus kicks in.

Garrick is overall not very useful, although the bard song is a good way to prevent fear, which is a spell that the enemy casters often use.

Not going to go pros and cons on using garrick.

I've used Voghlin, I've used Haer'dalis. they work to their own extent.

he wants an arcane spell caster to identify things. I used Neera, with 5 casts of identify per day.

and yes she can manage a stinking cloud or something easily enough dealing with groups, just give everyone ranged weapons, cast stinking cloud and shell them from range. so shes probably better, but I've used voghlin and he works just fine for his purposes.

Once he is level 5 or so he gets pretty good at identifying. I will often run a 5 character party and leave him in town...then come in and add him to identity stuff and pick pocket or steal some...then give him the boot. He doesn't seem to mind. Of course once I have more gold than I can spend I will stop this practice and go to a temple or store to identify.

I spent it allbefore going to dragonspear on pointless garbage still had a good 20-30000 left over. Buying all the darts of stunning is expensive
