Kind of a problem with an evil playthrough
So I am currently playing Baldurs Gate for the first time and as always Im playing an evil character. Its a paladin who uses a two-handed sword. Quite powerful actually, so kind of lucky for me there, I guess.

The problem is, that all of her swords constantly break. I know that this is supposed to happen, but I have to buy her a new sword after almost everytime I cleared a new region. And because Im playing evil, the shop prices are just way too high ( over 700 gold for a normal two-handed sword!)

So my options as far as I see are:

1) Get better reputation (how do I do this? except donating money to temples, which is inefficient for me?

2) Getting an enchanted weapon. I know that a bandit called "Arghain" drops such a weapon, but I think I didnt fight him or something like that, so his loot is not an option. Which leaves me only the "Spiders Bane", which I can only get when Im in chapter 4, according to the Wiki.

I just went to the mines and cleared them. What do you guys think, should I just continue with the story to quickly get to chapter 4, whenever that happens or is there an easy way to get better reputation, so I can still buy some more normal two-handed swords? Or Is there another enchanted weapon that I dont know about?

She is currently equipped with an enchanted one-handed sword and is still quite the tank, but she doesnt do so much damage anymore and this pretty annoying, so I hope someone can help me :D

Paladins cannot be anything but Lawful Good. If they stray from that alignment, they lose all their paladin powers and become just less effecient fighters.

Afaik, the +1 and higher weapons do not break ever.

You may get better reputation via certain choices during quests. Basically, do the good thing, protect the weak, punish the wicked, etc.

Moreover, BG1, being an older game, just does not reward the evil ones the same it does the good ones.

I hope you did not throw away the Vials of Mysterious Liquid. They can be given to the blacksmith in Beregost, who will use them to create "quality" weapons that don't break.

Their character is almost certainly a blackguard.

All right, I was not aware this was an option in EE.

There's the 2H cursed berserker sword +3 from Brage. It's west then north from Nashkel.

There is +1 non-cursed greatsword in area south east of Beregost. (which won't break obviously)
Also there will be really good greatsword a little bit later. So don't worry :)
