He's not a Judas, just naive. He didn't know his acting troupe was using their performances as a distraction to rob houses. He didn't know Silke was double-crossing the men bringing the gems.

I don't use him much because he's average at best, and vanilla bard songs aren't too useful. I might take him as cannon fodder or bait for Drizzt. A few times, I've stashed him at the store in Nashkel, since you can steal from there. Sell a valuable item like the Ring of Wizardry, then have him steal it back. You get the gold and can keep the item.

He also didn't do anything to stop Silke from trying to murder either the gem guys or you.
I sell all his things and leave him naked in the middle of the town.

I used him on my first run a lot of years ago, and I'm using it in a run that I'm doing now, just bbecause I wanted to change the NPCs used in previous runs.
Mainly I like the high knowledge that allow to identify items, but for everything else it's not so useful. It's an avarege NPC in a lot of activities (sing, steal, spells, ranged fight, ecc.) but since you can do just one thing at the time, probably other characters are better. He has nice chats.

So you don't want a "Judas" but you do want him to betray his employer? Do you not see the conflict in those requirements?

no, a Judas is a sheep that's trained to lead other sheep into a slaughterhouse.
Garrick could have chosen a side during the fight but waited till the fighting was over before giving the option to carry him, It's not a good selling point.

Yes. Have him play his song and you have a permanent fear immunity (and also a luck bonus to your damage rolls). He is really bad but if the song is what you want then he will do just like any other bard. He can also use wands and even help interrupt mages wih his own magic missiles. Just dont expect him to do much outside of that.

He's actually fun to have. Can use wands, can identify almost everything, can pickpocket everybody, can reach 21 charisma with a friend spell or 17 with algernon cloak... I usually give him the Army Scythe with the gauntlet of dexterity so he can help against weaker enemies, he's mainly my wand user against harder ones. He's also my memorizer of utility spells like haste, invisibility (also 10' radius if i find it) protection from evil. He's pretty useful too as a mustard jelly or a spider with polymorph self. I just remove his armor, make him cast the buffs and equip it back. Remember that some buffs are dependant on level and this dude levels pretty fast!

Alright so he's not the wet garbage bag I thought he was, I happen to never use the things others use him for.

im using him right now, his music is good all around the game, can use wands, scrolls, can pickpocket, he can hold the line in melee against multiple oponents and shield the wizard until the tanks arrive and he suplements yor mage spells.

Plus, im playing a stealh style party, 3 members go in stealth mode (my char a dual weapon ranger, safana and coran) and i really want the backstab to hit, the music helps with it.

If you are playing a 6 men party he is a great sixth man
