What character = most fun?
There are a lot of discussions metagaming and min-maxing, but I'm more interested in a combination of favorite mechanics.

What created character has heightened the fun factor for you, and why? Was it because you found a crazy OP build, or found a remarkable challenge, or had hilarious interactions, or synergized really well with another character, or something completely different? :lunar2019smilingpig:

Most fun was probably a solo insane Kensai run. It finished Kensai 13/Mage 28 in TOB, but through BG and SoD it was a pure Kensai. It was a just a lot of fun trying to keep a character alive who had to rely entirely on consumables for defence. Then it was just as much fun once I finished the dual class and could slaughter everything without much thought.

I find the most comfortable class to be the bard. You are an item-identification expert, which is much needed, and a wandslinger, in a world where finding and recharging wands is easy. No pressure in your choice of companions, other than the need for a thief. Much later in the saga, you get the IMO three best high-level abilities: Use Any Item, Enhanced Bard Song, and Set Spike Trap.
Only in BG1/BGEE? Or within the entire BG series?

Keep in mind that it is a party-based CRPG, and the socalled NPC companions contribute a lot to the fun. Through banter, inter-character quarrels, romances, personal quests, conversation, voice-acting (in BG1 for the new companions added by the EE). Some of it influences what main player character you would need to create. Such as a female in case you want male companions to start a romance. For example, Anomen/Sir Anomen in BG2, which is one of the more interesting characters.

Before the EE added the "Create Party" button, one had to abuse the multiplayer mode in order to start a game with multiple selfmade companions. With the help of the create party button, I particularly enjoyed playing with 2-3 player characters and using the free slots for story companions. That guarantees availability of specific classes within the party, perhaps including more than one dual-class characters if going with high attributes (Berserker13/Mage, Berserker>Cleric e.g.), and also makes it possible to skip story companions that don't make it past BG1 (Ajantis e.g, if interested in playing a female good-aligned paladin).

I particularly enjoy playing non-optimal characters, so consumables and spells like Strength make more of a difference.

The stalker ranger is very fun, since you hide in shadows, you can backstab, you are a good archer and a good fighter.

As a sorcerer you will have a small selection of spells but you will have a lot of them to use. As Main char your STR, DEX and COS will be decent, so you will have a spellcaster that will resist for some time if attacked in melee, or ranged.

A pure fighter (melee or ranged) or a kit (i.e. berserker) have always their fun, since your high stats will make the difference.

Solo sorcerer has always been my favourite. You're invincible to everything and can make all sorts of explosions and fun things like that.

Berserker or fighter with AI switched on. Let the characters choose what to do like a medieval sim.

I like Cleric/Mages (really need to get around to finishing that solo playthrough I was working on, haven't even left for Spellhold yet), Fighter/Thief multi-class, Berserker/Mage dual-class and Monk.

Cleric/mage is OP and fun, especially in BG2. With good rolls and tomes from BG1, you can use him as the main tank and main healer and main offensive caster and main summoner - all at the same time.

I have the most fun with a fighter/thief. of some variant. I've done swash -> fighter. if done Beserker/kensai -> thief.

Fighter/cleric works, and is pretty straight forward but not very fun.

and being a mage is about as fun as doing my taxes.

Fun for me is micromanaging a character.

kensai/mage is pretty fun for an huge BG run (bg1+soa+bg2)
Bard Blade is pretty fun too: a combinations of spells, abilities, and 2wielder dps.
