How do I install Mods
Can somebody please explain how I install mods for Enhanced Edition. I can't seem to find a tutorial specifically for Enhanced.

But I have found some tidbits of information that tell me that the method for Enhanced is much different AND annoying than the regular edition.

There's no difference between installing mods on BG:EE and BG1. Basically, you just run the exe or copy/paste files to your override folder.

ONLY if you have BG:EE+SoD on Steam or GoG you have to first install the ModMerge (a program that will unpack the SoD content as it comes as a zip on Steam or GoG).

"Override folder"?

So wait? Theres no difference but... I need SoD. That is a difference?

I'm not forking out cash for SoD just to use Mods.

you don't need sod unless the mod specifies it

So do I need Weidu to install mods for EE then?

I don't want to add to the confusion for you @Cerazor, but there's another way to install mods. By using Big World Setup[forums.beamdog.com], a mod manager.
If you install that, it will show you all the mods that you can install together that are compatible with BGEE et al, you can tick the ones that you want and it will download and install those mods in the right order.

So, I would just go with BWS[bitbucket.org] instead of installing them manually, personally.

Note in general: BWS says "Issue reporting is closed" and I noticed that since recently there is an issue with the latest release of WEIDU but I haven't read all the details. How much that would affect certain mods at this point I'm not sure. Looks like there are not enough maintainers to keep the project, well... .'maintained' since a few days.
Just throwing it out there for that somebody who has that special set of skills and is interested in keeping this going. It sounds like they can need some people over there

I don't believe it should affect your use of it at this moment though Cerazor. But maybe Julius has more information on that.

oooooooooooooooooooooo. Reading the supported games list is giving me great excitement.

I've installed the Minimal amount of Mods. Does BWS automatically install them. Or must I fidget with them?
Buttertea Feb 11, 2018 @ 5:07pm
You should not have to fidget at all. That's what BWS does for you. The thing that you have to take mostly into account is giving BWS the right paths to the installed game (which you already did) and *where* you want to install the modded game (if you want it somewhere else ( cause you can keep the original besides that)).

Edit: I am not sure what the "Minimal amount of Mods" entails in choice of mods. I manually chose the mods that I wanted from the list.

I'm thinking you might get some bug tweaks etc, maybe some spawning and monster difficulty changes with your chosen option. But be assured that you get them in the right order without having to figure that out yourself and you should have no clashes between them. Whatever you choose.

If you have any more questions, please let know. There are some people here who are very acquainted with one or the other.

I installed BWS. I haven't noticed anything. I'm not really sure that did anything. I gave it the install directory like it asked. I'm sure I haven't done anything wrong.

Maybe I just haven't noticed anything since I choose Minimal. Will install more, and see if that changes anything.
Cerazor Feb 14, 2018 @ 2:29am
Ok. I've just loaded it up, and everything is sped way the hell up.
Buttertea Feb 27, 2018 @ 4:07pm
Sorry for me not responding earlier. As I said, I am not sure what Minimal all entails. When installing BWS you have the ability to manually select mods, and then only specific parts of those mods that you want (like say selecting BGTweaks and only go for tweaks that you want in that specfic mod). If you do it manually.

I don't see why the "Minimal" option though should include speeding up the game. That sounds like a bad selection. So, I'm guessing you went up a notch / amount of mods by choosing "Normal/Average" or otherwise and only then you noticed the speeding up, perhaps? You may have just gotten what you asked for then.

Check what you actually got with your selection.

Minimal amount of mods option should not necessarily mean a noticeable difference right away. Especially not if you've never played the game before (if that is the case). It should be bug tweaks and that kind of stuff.

What is it that you are looking for in extra mods? Any of the preconfigured options might not be including (and excluding) what you want.
You might be better off with going the way of the manual selection in BWS.

At least you noticed a difference when you chose 'more' as you say, so it's working. It's just now tailoring it to your own needs.

I decided to reinstall BG1EE with the recommended level of mods. Its working fine now.

But some of the mods are buggy. But that's just life...

Thanks guys!

Okay. Can anyone list the *exact* procedure, please assume that you are talking to a person who has never installed a mod before, for installing a BG1 mod?

(I have actually installed WEIDU-based mods for original-BG1 in the "BGTuTu" version before, though never for BG:EE with Siege of Dragonspear. I could probably do it. There are other people who are less knowledgeable than me. Please assume you are giving simple instructions to one of them.)

Like, ONE post IN THIS FORUM OR THREAD which collects, collates, and details EVERY step IN ORDER that needs to be taken, to install a mod (assuming one has actually obtained the mod itself)?
